GD Goenka Model United Nations 2025 – Day Two Report

Day Two of GD Goenka Model United Nations 2025 commenced with the soulful recitation of the Holy Qur’an, seeking blessings of peace, wisdom, and harmony for the deliberations ahead.

The second day witnessed the continuation of intellectually stimulating committee proceedings across all councils. Three rigorous sessions were conducted, wherein delegates representing diverse nations engaged in structured debates, presented well-researched position papers, participated in moderated and unmoderated caucuses, and collaboratively worked toward drafting impactful resolutions. Their zeal and diplomatic finesse reflected true global leadership and a deep awareness of international issues. The pre-lunch sessions concluded with each committee finalizing the first drafts of their respective resolution documents.

Post-lunch, the GDGMUN community had the honour of welcoming eminent guests and patrons of education. The august gathering included:

  • Madam Massara Kawoosa, Managing Director, GD Goenka Public School, Srinagar
  • Mr. Rajeev Chowdhary, Principal, Army Public School,Srinagar
  • Ms. Lucy Jacob, Principal, Arise International School,Srinagar
  • Dr. Mehnaz Rehman, Principal, Birla Open Minds International School, Pampore

The event was also graced by valued collaborators of the conference, including
Mr. Malik Jeelani – Scholastic Publications, Ms. Arjumand Rather – Seed to Plant Publications, and Mr. Aamir – Sapphire Publications.

A warm welcome address was delivered by Ms. Asia Mushtaq, Lead Coordinator, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the dignitaries for their gracious presence and unwavering encouragement toward nurturing students into globally conscious citizens.

Principal Mr. Johnson P. J. then took the stage, enlightening delegates on the authentic procedures and diplomatic frameworks followed at the United Nations. He commended the students’ research, discipline, and respectful debates, emphasizing that MUNs nurture diplomacy, negotiation, leadership, collaboration, and confidence — essential attributes of future global leaders.

Chief Guest Dr. Abdul Majeed, in his address, lauded GD Goenka for offering such a strong global learning platform without financial constraints. Praising the confidence and clarity of the young delegates, he emphasized that initiatives like GDGMUN empower students to embrace future challenges with courage, competence, and critical thinking. He encouraged schools to continue providing such opportunities for students to find their voices in international affairs.

A major highlight of the day was the Press Conference, meticulously simulated by the student media corps. Acting as professional press correspondents, they posed sharp, evidence-based questions to the committee delegates regarding their drafted resolutions. Delegates confidently responded with logical justifications, reflecting their thorough preparation and diplomatic etiquette. The floor was subsequently opened for reflections and feedback.

Mr. Rajeev Chowdhary, Principal, Army Public School, Srinagar, appreciated the passion and determination of the participants, advising them to embrace every experience as a stepping stone to growth. Dr. Mehnaz Rehman, Principal, Birla International School, Pampore, in her remarks, reminded students that both highs and lows shape true learning. She urged them to prioritize real-life engagements over reel-life distractions, commending MUNs for helping students overcome hesitation and emerge as bold, articulate individuals.

The Valedictory and Felicitation Ceremony began amidst applause and celebration. Principals of all participating schools were acknowledged for their collaboration and support. Awards for Best Delegate and Best Position Paper were conferred upon outstanding performers from each committee, based on multiple evaluative parameters.

Trophies of appreciation were also presented to the Director General of the Conference, Qubaisa Kozgar (Grade 9),Head Of Logistics, Hafiz Tauqeer from Grade 10, Ibrahim Bilal, the Teacher In-Charges and Organising Committee Members, including Ms. Catherina Johnson( School dmistrator Ms. Samrah Akram( coordinator), Mr. Suhail Ahmad Najar,  Mr. Muneer Abbas, Ms. Tabassum Mir, ,  , Ms. Rifat Parveen, Mr. Furqan Saaznawaz, Mr. Fayaz Kabli, and the Event Coordinator, Ms. Asia Mushtaq, for their immense dedication and guidance throughout the event.

The ceremony concluded with the dignitaries presenting trophies and certificates to all participating delegates, applauding their grit, discipline, and diplomatic spirit. The day wrapped up with a cordial tea interaction, where dignitaries and participants celebrated the success of the conference and the remarkable achievements of the young leaders.

Day Two of GDGMUN 2025 stood as a remarkable blend of diplomacy, collaboration, recognition, and celebration — a true testament to the power of youth in shaping a more informed, responsible, and peaceful world.
